Kail! Palju Õnne!

Once again Steven forgot Kail's birthday. Kail is a cute little 4-year old living in the seaside parish called Viimsi just outside of Tallinn, Estonia. Don't let her cute looks fool you though. Behind those golden locks is a rather smart, witty and sometimes fiercely independent girl. So today's blog is dedicated to Kail.

Palju Õnne Sulle! Happy Birthday!

Kail (early July 2009)

Almost 2-months today ago Kail received one of the best gifts an older sibling could receive: a younger sibling. Another cute girl added to the Koka-Kruusmaa Family named Lee. Steven and Diane are both older siblings and each have a younger sibling. We don't have much advice for Lee, except, "good luck...you'll need it!" :-) Our advice to Kail is to be kind and gentle. Don't beat-up your little sister too often. You will learn later when you are older that your younger sister can be one of your best friends. Unfortunately it takes about 20+ years to learn this.

Cute little Lee. Nii Kena! Just a few weeks old.

Celebration

Thursday night we headed to a hotel where some friends were having a party. They had a great view of the river and all the festivities! We also had an event to attend at the hotel next door. So we spent the evening walking from hotel to hotel. Nice actually. In between all the parties, we escaped for a little break and headed to one of my favorite cafes for a cup of coffee.

The fireworks were great especially with the backdrop of the castle. However, nothing beats the WEBN fireworks in Cincinnati! I got a little homesick. I wish I could be home for labor day weekend to attend Riverfest.

Our view of the fireworks. They shoot
the fireworks off 2 different bridges.

I like this photo. You can see the reflection
of the hotel in the window. Kind of a cool effect.

I set my camera on night mode so
the shutter stayed open longer.Finale

August 20th - St Stephen's Day

Steven and I are doing very well. We are enjoying the summer. We have both been busy with work and life. Sorry for no regular posts...

Yesterday started the festivities for Saint Stephens Day. Today (Thursday) and tomorrow are National holidays. Everything is closed...including bridges! But there is so much to do! There are programs going on until Sunday night. Dancing, folk arts, the Red Bull plane races under the bridge!, and much more!

Yesterday I accidentally came across the beginning of the races..or maybe they were just practicing. Anyway, it was remarkable! I called my dad (a HUGE plane lover!) from the water and told him he must come visit next year. These planes fly between the water and the bridge! Click here to check out this cool video.

Tonight we are going to two parties at two different hotels on the water. Fireworks and celebrations guaranteed! Will post photos tomorrow!
